ROC® is a third-party certification that underscores our pledge to a vibrant future for farming and to a cleaner, greener planet.

We know we must be proactive to continue to feed the world, so we are doing our part by rebuilding and revitalizing our soil, making it fertile for generations to come. We also recognize carbon belongs in the soil not in the air we breathe – it’s common sense. Regenerative farming pulls carbon from the air and stores it in the soil. What better place to put it?

As one of the country’s leading regenerative growers of sugarcane, we have a major advantage in our fight against climate change. Sugarcane is one of the most effective plants in the world at capturing carbon and using it as food to grow. In addition to filtering the air, sugarcane also produces more plant fiber, or biomass, than any other crop. We are excited by the nearly endless opportunities available to use our biomass as a green alternative to fossil fuels.

Did you know we are already applying many innovative solutions from our biomass?

  • We use it to produce renewable energy that powers our sugar operations. Incredibly, our sugarcane allows us to be 82% powered by renewable energy companywide!
  • We compost it in our own commercial compost facility at Osceola, which is one of the top 10 largest in the U.S. In doing so, we make our own in-house organic fertilizer that is reducing our use of commercial fertilizers.
  • At Tellus, we make compostable tableware from our sugarcane and other plant fiber. Importantly, our products are reducing disposable plastics that are a major waste harming our planet.

This week, we celebrated Earth Day with our community at a tree planting in collaboration with a wonderful organization called Community Greening that beautifies public parks, schoolyards, residential yards and urban orchards throughout Palm Beach County. On April 15, more than 30 employees joined us to plant native trees at Dreher Park in West Palm Beach, a few blocks from our Clematis headquarters.

Earth Day is one day, but our commitment to its values lasts the entire year!
