Florida Crystals’ 2021 Rice Harvest Season Begins in South Florida

Florida Crystals’ rice harvest is underway in western Palm Beach County, Florida, where we rotate the staple food with our sugarcane and vegetables as part of our sustainable farming practices.

Under blue skies on a breezy Tuesday July morning on one of our organic rice farms, Daniel Cavazos, Director of Rice Farming, said, “We had a great growing period for the harvest to kick off this season. We may even exceed the estimated yield for parts of our crop, including our niche market medium-grain rice.”

After we harvest our 20,000 acres of rice, we deliver it to our Sem-Chi Rice Mill in Belle Glade, the only rice mill in Florida, which also mills rice from other independent farmers in our Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) farming basin.

At Sem-Chi, we mill and supply enough rice each year to feed more than 4 million people.

“Consumers can’t get enough of our organic rice,” Daniel said.

We look forward to a safe and prosperous rice harvest season!
