Each year during the holidays, Florida Crystals, as an agricultural company, is grateful for the opportunity to help provide staple foods for the communities that we are a part of.

We were pleased to have the opportunity to help feed hundreds of families in the Glades communities in western Palm Beach County through our support of the City of Belle Glade’s annual Thanksgiving giveaway that included 500 turkeys and 500 hams as well as locally grown trimmings.

We thank all of our employee volunteers who worked tirelessly alongside other community leaders throughout the day to make sure each family who came through the drive-thru line at New Birth Deliverance Baptist Church in Belle Glade on Nov. 22 received a turkey or a ham, a bag of our Florida Crystals® Raw Cane Sugar, fresh sweet corn provided by U.S. Sugar and green beans provided by Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative.

Families began lining up along Belle Glade’s Main Street at 8:30 a.m., with the distribution set to begin at noon. With the line of cars stretching more than a mile, organizers with the City and the Guardians of the Glades began the giveaway nearly an hour early.

In addition to donating products and distributing foods for our neighbors, we provided lunch to the five dozen volunteers who donated their time to make the event run smoothly.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and community partners who made this event possible!
