Florida Crystals Joins Big Heart Brigade and Local Farmers to Thank West Palm Beach Firefighters
At Florida Crystals, one of our founding values is giving back to the community, especially to those that have supported us over the past six decades. We were delighted to join with our fellow farmers in western Palm Beach County’s Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) to say “thank you” to our local first responders by donating gift bags of fresh foods to West Palm Beach’s Fire Station 1, located down the street from our headquarters.
“When Big Heart Brigade reached out to see if we’d like to support the ‘thank you’ event for our local firefighters, it was a no brainer,” said Caroline Villanueva, South Florida External Affairs Manager, who coordinated the donation with Big Heart Brigade, a local organization that feeds those in need, which Florida Crystals has supported for more than 10 years. “First responders have gone above and beyond during the pandemic, so we were happy to have the opportunity to give back and say, ‘Thank you.’”
Each reusable tote included a bag of Florida Crystals® Organic Raw Cane Sugar, our locally grown rice and farm fresh sweet corn grown in partnership with our neighbors at Hundley Farms as well as leafy greens from Veg Pro, delivered by TKM Bengard Farms.
Six Florida Crystals employees – Caroline, Dolly Davis, William Edgar, Patricia Harris, Roe Vieira-Janos and Kristina Webb – prepared more than 100 bags at Fire Station No. 1 as Big Heart Brigade prepared a barbecue lunch for West Palm Beach’s finest!
