We're Celebrating Our 60th Anniversary!
We are excited to be marking two significant milestones: the 60th anniversary of our founding in Palm Beach County, Florida and our 60th crop at the Osceola Sugar Mill!
Our Journey from 1960 to Today!
In 1960, the Fanjul family founded Florida Crystals in the small town of Pahokee, laying the foundation of our company.
Our first mill, the Osceola Sugar Mill, was constructed from parts of three defunct sugar mills from Louisiana that were purchased for $165,000 and barged to the southern shores of Lake Okeechobee.
An old schoolhouse was converted into our first office and relocated next to the mill. We hailed the success of our first crop, which produced 10,461 tons of raw sugar. It was the start of the family’s journey to build an integrated sugarcane business that would begin on the farm and end with the consumer.
In the years since, that vision has been brought to life through the hard work and dedication of our thousands of employees in South Florida.
We are proud of what Florida Crystals is today, and more so, the people who make it special. As we celebrate our 60th season over the next six months, we look forward to highlighting the many employees who have built their careers at Florida Crystals. It is deeply meaningful that we have more than 150 employees currently celebrating more than 30 years of service.
Florida Crystals was founded on family values. And, we are just as committed today to providing quality jobs for families, giving back to our communities and producing locally grown foods in a sustainable and responsible manner to feed our neighbors.
