Barn Owls Provide Natural Defense
We build and provide homes for barn owls to nest on our farms. This unique program, developed by University of Florida researchers, not only provides a natural means of pest defense, but is also playing a successful role in wildlife conservation in South Florida. The conservation program has repopulated barn owls, which are a threatened species in many states, in the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA). Our farms are green spaces where wildlife can thrive. The addition of nesting boxes across the region has allowed barn owl populations in the EAA to reach some of the highest levels in North America.
